Enneagram as a Tool for Families with Justice Skinner (Enneagram 6) [S03-038]

The Enneagram is a great tool for integration for yourself, but I’d like to encourage you to also think of it as a tool that can really impact family dynamics, including strengthening your relationships with your children. When families integrate the Enneagram into their daily lives, it’s amazing how much better parents can understand and distinguish the needs of their children. On top of that, our children can learn to recognize not only their own needs but also the needs of their siblings.  Having this level of understanding within a family system creates so much room for empathy and grace for each other.

One of the questions I hear most often as it relates to the Enneagram and families is, “How old should my child be before they start learning the Enneagram?”  And though I’m not prepared to provide a specific age, I do think it’s important to explore the Enneagram as a tool for young people.

So, today, I’m excited to share with you my conversation with our youngest guest ever…Justice Skinner.  Justice is the eldest son of our very own, Anthony Skinner, and happens to be an Enneagram Six.

Though this interview is full of wisdom and clarity for Enneagram Sixes of all ages, it also provides us with just one example of how the Enneagram can operate in a family-system.

...the second thing is that it won’t go away. You can still be really anxious. And that’s where you just learn to develop that skill where you’re like, “Okay, this is just a feeling.” I think, “Yes, this fear is still here, doesn’t make what’s on this page any less true.” It just means I can still do this and I’ve done this in the past and it’ll be fine.
